Brain Leakage

To my children; words of wit and questionable wisdom from your daddies' head. And for anyone else who might be interested.

Name:
Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States

I used to go boating, camping, and I enjoyed driving. Now I just read about others doing those things and I sit at the keyboard all day, and most of the night, surfing the net for humor, playing games, and writing nonsense. Being disabled, I'm not exactly unemployed, and I'm not exactly retired. I'm somewhere in between. I still play guitar and sing once in a while, but usually as a result of my daughter browbeating me into it. She sings too. My son and I, and sometimes the daughter, go target shooting on weekends. Other than that I'm usually at home, getting in my wifes way and fighting over the TV remote with my son. We both like to put something stupid on TV that we can ignore while we play on the computer. Since I'm always on the other side of the camera, my current photo is a rendition of my trademark, The Aardmoose, drawn by my brother, Charley.

A Workmens Comp Rant

I hereby rant, rave, and wish plagues of boils, toadies, and erratic bouts of incontinence upon a certain insurance company who's minions seem to take pleasure in wreaking havoc with my life and health. I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say that I'm way tired of these people playing God. In particular, I speak of the insurance company, who shall remain nameless, for now, that is supposedly handling my interests in a disabilitating, work related injury. It's wasn't enough that I was naive enough to let myself get duped into waiving my rights for long term disability income through them. They seem to want to make my life miserable in anyway they can.

Nine months ago I applied, on my own, for Social Security Disability. I was told by many people, including a few lawyers I know, that I should expect to be denied coverage the first time I applied. Then I would need a Social Security Disability lawyer to handle my claim. That didn't happen and, through their own investigation of my case, Social Security declared that I met their medical criteria for disability. I received a letter on November, 4th, 2004, stating that they still had to determine my non-medical eligibility; meaning that they needed to know how much money Workmens Comp was paying me,and that I should hear from them within four to six weeks. Since Workmens Comp was paying me zero dollars and only covering my medical expenses I felt that the light at the end of the tunnel was daylight.

I was wrong, and that light at the end of the turned out to be a cartoon bird with a flash light who stuck his tongue out at me, said "BEEP BEEP," and disappeared in a cloud of dust. Two months and many phone calls later I discovered that those delightful people at Workmens Comp simply weren't releasing and information to Social Security, and were not returning any phone calls. My disability application has been indefinately stalled by the insurrance company for no discernible reason. Not only that; they suddenly decided, without telling me, that they would no longer authorize payment for an anti-seizure medication that I take for nerve damage in my back without "prior authorization." This proved to be difficult as they refused to return the pharmacists phone request for authorization. To stop this medication without gradually reducing the dosage over a two week period would cause me to have life threatening seizures.

My thanks go out to the Injured Workers Pharmacy and to my lawyer for connecting me with them. Now my medication is sent to me directly and then they go after the insurrance co. for payment. Meanwhile, my lawyer is providing my with a letter of instruction to Social society that will, hopefully move things along a bit.

For anyone who has had similar difficulties with Workmens Comp filling perscriptions I highly recomend the Injured Workers' Pharmacy. They are good and they don't take any crap from insurrance companies. As for lawyers; well, I take back everything I ever said agains them.....BP
